Rusinga CBO Projects
Female Empowerment
We have successfully supplied sanitary pads for more than one-hundred women, and female children on the island. This insures females remain with good hygiene, and can continue their daily lives comfortably and safely.
Environmental Conservation and Education
Our organization has helped plant more than 200 fruit trees with local children. This effort fosters environmental conservation, education and awareness for coming generations. Families can harvest and sell fruit from trees planted from the organization, as this remains a popular source of income for island residents.
Fighting Hunger
We have donated over 300 bags of corn to families in need in order to fight hunger. The majority of Rusinga Island residents live on less than $1.00 a day. This Community action helps provide food security to those in need.
We have provided cleats, balls, uniforms and training materials for the children enrolled in our community football academy. Most of the children enrolled with us are orphans due to their parents dying of HIV and AIDS.
